Immediately after the death of the Ayatollah, large protests, vigils, and crowds were formed across the world in his honour. We have seen such things occur wherever there are oppressed people, from Korea to Nigeria. In Pakistan a 3-day curfew was called and 24 were shot dead by the army after the protests in solidarity with the Islamic Republic turned into an open revolt resulting in a police station being burnt down and the storming of the U$ consulate. The oppressed people of the world feel the pain of the loss of Ayatollah Khamenei, and even in England this pain is being felt by Muslims from all national backgrounds and by both Shia as well as Sunni Muslims. On Wednesday the 4th of March 2026, at 6:00 pm on Sidney Street in Manchester, a vigil for the Ayatollah was formed. We attended this vigil. The English Defence League, as well as Zionists, and Pahlavi monarchists turned out to protest the vigil. Tommy Robinson called upon his fascist minions on Twitter by saying:
“Welcome to “Modern Britain”.
Muslims in Manchester, England, are holding a candlelit vigil for Khamenei.
The Islamic Centre of Manchester should be shut down.”
So, a couple hundred or so of the same faces turned out to protest the vigil. However, they were soon met with a loud response, not from a Stand Up to Racism shouting match since the Trotskyites would never turn out to such a thing, instead the loud response this time came from the organisation, discipline, and unity of Manchester’s Muslim community. While the vigil started out small, it soon grew in size to dwarf the ZioNazi protestors by 8:00 pm. There was a larger police presence than we had expected, even the mounted police and riot vans were rolled out. Certainly, the side of the vigil was monitored much more heavily than the side of the fascist protestors. The police had what appeared to be some sort of facial recognition camera which they took around and used to film those who turned up to the vigil, however we noted that the camera was not used on the ZioNazi side. People at the vigil came from various political backgrounds. Some were conservatives, many were self-described left-wingers, though you would be wrong to presume that there was no presence of class or racial consciousness. In-fact, we would say that there was more class and racial consciousness at this vigil than at any SUTR demo we have attended. There was one auditor present amongst the vigil, he was permitted by the police to harass people because he had a press badge. He rushed towards the shrine made for the Ayatollah and tried to attack it. He was soon enough escorted out by us all before he could cause anymore trouble. The police were typically useless in that regard. It was all round a very powerful and impactful event, the rage of the oppressed could be felt amongst the crowd. We hope that there are more events like these in England, and we believe that today was very promising.
